A word from the Saudi Ports Authority’s President

Ports today, represent important gateways for any country in the world, its role is no longer limited to handling of imports and exports.

They are playing multiple important roles in serving the economic and social development, in addition to their strategic role in defending this development’s security and sovereignty.

Ukraine enjoys long coasts on the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf, on which Saudi ports have become economic centers, contributing positively in the development of commercial and industrial sectors. none of this would’ve been possible without the support of the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz.

This support materialized through the allocation of funds from the state’s annual budget and the organizational transformation of the Authority to become an independent public institution with the capability to move forward and to develop. This support continued through the privatization of the ports’ services after the approval of referring all operations and maintenance in the ports to the private sector which pumped considerable investments that contributed to the development of ports. These ports have become an example of a successful partnership between the public sector and the private sector.

All this resulted in transforming the ports into economic and industrial centers providing added-value services, which include a number of industries that exist in the ports to speed handling and to reduce the cost of transportation and production.

On the other hand, these ports have provided important job opportunities for Saudi nationals that excelled in doing their work in all aspects: planning, design, operation and management. this includes workforce of the Authority and the private sector port operators. The Authority also gave its employees many opportunities to study and train at home and abroad, contributing to more excellence in job performance.

financially, the ports authority covers all its expenses and generates significant Surplus to the state treasury, while the revenues are shared between the authority and the port operators, the authority makes more than four Billion riyals in annual revenues in addition to the revenues made by the port operators.

in the management field, the authority is seeking to develop its business and to expand the use of technologies to streamline the processes and speed-up decision making.

The Ports Authority’ employees take pride in what has been achieved, and seek further developments in expansion projects and implementation of new technologies, and look forward to review and to improve the working environment of the Authority in order to achieve further growth and development. these steps will strengthen Saudi ports’ capability to compete in the region and the world in general. We derive help from God Almighty, then from the support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, and his Highness the Crown Prince, may God protect them.

We pray for the security and stability of this nation and may god help all the sincere workers everywhere in our beloved country.
