JEDDAH: In what is seen as major leap forward in infrastructural development, Transport Minister Abdullah Al-Muqbil has signed 15 new agreements for various ministry projects worth SR1.326 billion with a number of local companies for implementation, maintenance, buildings and consultancy in various regions of the Kingdom.
The ministry said that these projects were for various projects for which allocations had been made soon after announcement of the budget. The ministry has opened them to public competition. He said that soon agreements for other projects would be signed.
Al-Muqbil has expressed his gratitude to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for supporting the projects in the transport sector.
Among the agreements signed were with Alfaf Business and Contracting Company, on an agreement for repairs of 14 km of road in Al-Mahani and Asheera in Makkah Region in first phase. Al-Rosan Contracting Company signed an agreement on repairs of 110 km of the Riyadh-Bisha Road.
Rawafid and Medical Equipment House signed agreements for operations and maintenance of surveillance and control systems at rest houses along the highways of Riyadh city and special equipment for information on roads, or what is called as a smart transport system.
